WHO WE ARE

Psychology (BS in Psychology)

Mission
The Applied Psychology major equips adult-learners to apply psychological constructs in their scholarship, workplace, and service to the country, community, and society.
Overview
At its core, applied psychology is about understanding how people think, act, and relate.
Psychology majors develop strong research and analytical skills while exploring all phases of human life. They study the behavior of individuals and groups, both the well-adjusted and the dysfunctional. Students of psychology are interested in conducting research to discover patterns of human behavior, as well as in applying psychological principles and techniques to solving social and individual problems. The Applied Psychology major includes coursework selected for students desiring employment or advancement in a variety of fields which may include education, ministry, human resources, business, and human services. The courses are chosen to concurrently satisfy the prerequisites for many graduate programs in clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy, educational psychology, school counseling, and other related fields of study.
